Any female fans interested in dating the famous lead vocalist and frontman of the heavy metal group As I Lay Dying need to double-check their locks and hire a personal bodyguard. Tim Lambesis pleaded guilty to trying to hire a hitman to end the life of his estranged wife Meggan on Tuesday, February 25 in a San Diego court. The musician was arrested in May 2013, after officers foiled his plot to murder his former spouse. Prosecutors say he met with a sheriff’s deputy posing as a hit man and handed over $1,000, his wife’s address and front door security code.

The story gets more interesting, according to billboard.com, Lambesis was (is?) obsessed with bodybuilding and was spending money irresponsibly.
“In September, a defense attorney said Lambesis’ use of steroids had clouded his judgement.”

Lambesis agreed to pay $20,000 to take care of his marital problems. According to Deputy District Attorney Claudia Grasso, he confirmed that he wanted his wife dead:
“Yes, that’s exactly what I want,” he said
His bandmates said in a statement last year following Lambesis’ arrest:
“There are many unanswered questions, and the situation will become clearer in the coming days and weeks. We’ll keep you informed as best we can. Our thoughts right now are with Tim, his family, and with everyone else affected by this terrible situation—and with our fans, whom we love and draw strength from.”
Lambesis can be sentenced to a maximum of nine years in prison and a $10,000 fine if convicted of “soliciting another to commit and join in the commission of the murder.” He will be sentenced on May 2 in Vista Superior Court, north of San Diego.
