The owner of Celebrity Boxing Damon Feldman confirmed that the boxing match between George Zimmerman and DMX has been cancelled.
“Done with George Zimmerman if you had a major payday sitting in front of you , I know no one else would walk away like I did ***Next!!”
“people’s feelings meant more to me.”
“The George Zimmerman fight is canceled I’m sorry for anyone I hurt with this but this was a very big opportunity thank you.”
Zimmerman’s controversial court case for being acquitted of killing Trayvon Martin is the main contributing factor why the fight was cancelled. A petition on Change.org to stop the match has over 100,000 signatures and a WhiteHouse.gov petition has close to 28,000.
The opening lines for the petitions reads:
“Change.org – It’s a scary time we live in when a child murderer and domestic abuser is granted celebrity status and the opportunity to make money off the blood and tears of his victims…”
“WhiteHouse.gov – Celebrity Boxing Promoter Damon Feldman & George Zimmerman are attempting to promote and profit off of racial tensions in America…”
Feldman tweeted the following:
“This was the wrong person to put in the ring and define celebrity boxing,”
“I’d rather be happy and make people happy” and that there is “more to life than money”.
DMX’s spokesman Domenick Nati says that DMX never officially signed on for the fight, scheduled to take place March 15:
“Damon Feldman has announced that the George Zimmerman fight is cancelled via his Twitter. As previously stated, DMX never agreed to the fight and we thank you for all of the support from DMX’s fans.”
Even though DMX did not officially sign to fight Zimmerman, he surely had lots to say about his intentions if he had to face him:
“I am going to beat the living f**k out him … I am breaking every rule in boxing to make sure I f**k him right up.”
He also said he’d literally piss on George’s face.
