The announcement is made hot on the heels of “Cloverfield” director Matt Reeves’ second installment, ‘Dawn of the Planet of the Apes’. “Planet of the Apes 3” is set be released on July 29, 2016, with director Reeves returning to serve behind the lens. Reeves will also be taking on the scripting duties along with Mark Bomback.
‘Dawn of the Planet of the Apes’ will see human civilization slowly crumble while the impending war between man and ape looms. Caesar and his army prepare to defend their ground; who will emerge as Earth’s dominant species?
Official synopsis:
“A growing nation of genetically evolved apes led by Caesar is threatened by a band of human survivors of the devastating virus unleashed a decade earlier. They reach a fragile peace, but it proves short-lived, as both sides are brought to the brink of a war that will determine who will emerge as Earth’s dominant species.”
The second installment stars Gary Oldman, Jason Clarke, Kodi Smit-McPhee and Judy Greer. The film is set to be release on July 11, 2014.
