from dusk till dawn series

With True blood ending last year, the new ‘From Dusk Till Dawn‘ series will fill in a much needed gap in the vampire-TV-Genre. The series will follow the same plot as the original film that starred George Clooney, Quentin Tarantino and a very sexy Salma Hayek (remember the snake-dance scene). We have mixed feelings about this show seeing  as the actors, and production company (El Rey Network) are all relatively unknown. Luckily the first few episodes will be directed by Robert Rodriguez, who gave us El Mariachi (1992), Sin City, the latest Machete movies and of course  the original From Dusk Till Dawn.

Based on the film of the same name, From Dusk Till Dawn: The Series is a supernatural crime saga centered around bank robber, Seth Gecko (Cotrona) and his violent, unpredictable brother, Richard “Richie” Gecko (Holtz), who are wanted by the FBI and Texas Rangers Earl McGraw (Johnson) and Freddie Gonzalez (Garcia) after a bank heist left several people dead. While on the run to Mexico, Seth and Richie encounter former minister Jacob Fuller (Patrick) and his family, whom they take hostage. Using the family RV to cross the border, chaos ensues when the group detours to a strip club that is populated by vampires. They are forced to fight until dawn in order to get out alive. The series deepens the tone of the film, adds new characters and backstories and expands the Mesoamerican mythology behind the creatures inside the club.

The series will have 10-episodes and stars Adrienne Palicki, Jesse Garcia, Don Johnson, Robert Patrick, Madison Davenport, Brandon Soo Hoo, and Eiza González. It’s set to premiere on March 11th, 2014.
