FOX Entertainment is in the process of developing a Batman Prequel Series titled “Gotham”. The show is described as following the younger days of Jim Gordon, as he learns the ropes in Gotham City and begins to encounter characters and villains that will become significant in later Batman stories. The network shared some juicy titbits during their Television Critics Association press tour panel in Pasadena. The show is set to staff up in February and head “into script right after that,”. FOX Entertainment chairman Kevin Reilly revealed that we can expect appearances of more characters from the comic books.

Bruce Wayne will "be a "young boy", "somewhere around 12."

Bruce Wayne will be a “young boy”, “somewhere around 12.”

He added:

“This is all of the classic Batman characters, [The Joker, Catwoman, The Riddler, Penguin]”

“It follows the arc of how they all became what they were. I’ve read the script its really good. It’s going to be this operatic soap that has a slightly larger-than-life quality.”

“Gotham” will explore the origin stories of Commissioner James Gordon and the presence of a much younger Bruce Wayne.

Reilly explains:

“we’re playing with [age] in casting,” he’ll be a “young boy; my guess would be somewhere around 12.”

As to when we can expect Bruce Wayne to suit up?

“[at] the end of the series.”

“The Mentalist” creator Bruno Heller develops the one-hour drama. He executive produces and writes the pilot, which is in the process of casting.
