Eli Roth-produced “Clown” based on a “fake” trailer made by Jon Watts and Christopher D. Ford in 2010. Roth is no stranger to horror flicks, he is well known for his work on “The Last Exorcism”, “Hostel”, “Cabin Fever” and  “The Green Infenro”. The director was so impressed with the faux trailer he agreed to help develop it into a full feature film, starring Peter Stormare, Laura Allen, Christian DiStefano, Elizabeth Whitmere, Matthew Stefiuk, and Andy Powers. We can’t wait to see this!

“In the spoof trailer and the upcoming feature, a loving father dons a clown outfit, wig, bulbous nose and pancake makeup to entertain at his son’s sixth birthday after the clown-for-hire is a no-show. Unable to take off the clown garb, dad’s personality changes in horrific fashion. He and his family race to break the curse of the evil outfit before he undergoes a complete transformation into a homicidal killer with over-sized shoes.”

The film premiered at Toronto Film Festival last year, but no theatrical release date has been confirmed. The final version of the “real” film was directed by Jon Watts, a TV veteran making his big screen debut.

The trailer for the Eli Roth-produced “Clown” was made available earlier today, but The Weinstein Co. requested sites to remove it due to copyright infringements. The guys over at Shocktillyoudrop.com might still have the trailer available for your viewing pleasure. GeekShizzle will be on the lookout for the official trailer once it’s released.
