In the wake of Paul Walker’s tragic passing on Saturday, The Hollywood Reporter learns that production for the ‘Fast and Furious 7’ has been postponed. Cast and crew were on a break for Thanksgiving and production was scheduled to resume on Sunday, December 1.
Universal Pictures executives and director James Wan held a conference call on Sunday morning to discuss the state of the film and to decide “whether rewrites would be necessary and how to proceed in a manner that would be respectful to Walker’s death.”
A studio spokesperson said in a statement Saturday night:
“All of us at Universal are heartbroken,”
“Paul was truly one of the most beloved and respected members of our studio family for 14 years, and this loss is devastating to us, to everyone involved with the Fast and Furious films, and to countless fans. We send our deepest and most sincere condolences to Paul’s family.”
Walker was reprising his role as Brian O’Conner in the wildly popular racing movie. “Brick Mansions” and “Fast and Furious 7” will also be released posthumously.
