With the new Sony PlayStation 4 now launched and available, and the gaming and console reviews streaming in, Sony reported to have sold $1 million PS4 consoles within the first 24 hours after the launch. This is exactly on par if you take into consideration the hype, and that Sony had roughly 1 million pre-orders prior to the launch.

It is an extremely interesting time for consoles as Microsoft is launching it’s next gen console, the Xbox One in 4 days.

Sony will want to keep the momentum if they want to reach their goal of selling five million units before the end of March 2013. It took Nintendo a week to sell its first 400,000 Wii U systems in the US.
