“Star Wars Episode 7” has finally received its official release date! The J.J. Abrams-directed movie is expected to hit theaters on December 18, 2015, nice little pre x-mas gift for all Star Wars fans. Filming is scheduled to begin in 2014 at Pinewood Studios outside London.
Chairman of The Walt Disney Studios Alan Horn says:
“We’re very excited to share the official 2015 release date for Star Wars: Episode VII, where it will not only anchor the popular holiday filmgoing season but also ensure our extraordinary filmmaking team has the time needed to deliver a sensational picture,”
This also marks the first feature film production under the Mouse House’s ownership of George Lucas’ production company. It was also recently announced that Lawrence Kasdan (“The Empire Strikes Back”, “Return of the Jedi”) and Abrams will take over the writing duties from “The Hunger Games: Catching Fire” scribe Michael Arndt, he was hired in 2012 to work on the script for the new “Star Wars”.
Abrams says he would love to work with Arndt again:
“That doesn’t preclude working with Michael again in the future,”
“Working with Michael was a wonderful experience and I couldn’t be a bigger fan of his or adore him more, He’s a wonderful guy and was incredibly helpful in the process.”
We still have no confirmation or additional rumors indicating that any actors involved in the project have been announced. Sit tight, GeekShizzle will keep you posted.
