heroes of the storm

Blizzard released a teaser trailer for it’s upcoming MOBA (Multiplayer Online Battle Arena) game now officially called “Heroes of the Storm”. It was initially thought that the also expected WoW expansion may be called “Heroes of the Storm”, but this trailer confirms it.

“Heroes of the Storm” will be Blizzards official “remake” of it’s insanely popular DOTA (Defence of the Ancients) game. The remake/sequel was originally called “Defence of the Ancients : All Stars”. The original “Defence of the Ancients: All-Stars” was a mod for WarCraft III, with Half-Life maker Valve now behind its sequel, Dota 2. Blizzard renamed DOTA in 2011, after settling a legal dispute with Valve over the rights to the DOTA trademark.

The trailer shows an animated Orc (Warcraft), Jack Raynor (Star Craft) and Demon Huter (Diablo 3):

Expect to see more at this years Blizzcon, which is happening on November the 9th. Here’s a complete list if everything else you can expect. We’re pretty excited about this, and hope we are able to get our hands on some BETA keys. We’ve been in the DOTA 2 release queue for ages now and the wait has simply been too long… bring on Heroes of the Storm!
