Activision and Infinity Ward released the first teaser for the upcoming Call of Duty game, Call of Duty: Ghosts. We where quite surprised by the video, as we where expecting a Modern Warfare 4. This surprise was addressed directly though:

“”Everyone was expecting us to make Modern Warfare 4, which would have been the safe thing to do. But we’re not resting on our laurels,” said Mark Rubin, executive producer of developer Infinity Ward.

Call of Duty: Ghost will be a complete new story, setting and list of characters.

This is quite a step in a different direction regarding the ongoing war between the Call of Duty vs Battlefield franchises. I wonder if Activision/Infinity ward decided not to take part in this feud any more, or whether a Modern Warfare 4/Black Ops 3 will still be released. Not that they have any reason to withdraw  remember Black Ops 2 break just about every gaming sales record that existed, with sales totalling $500 million in its first 24 hours.

“We saw the console transition as the perfect opportunity to start a new chapter forCall of Duty. So we’re building a new sub-brand, a new engine, and a lot of new ideas and experiences for our players.”
