MGM confirmed they are moving forward with their remake of Poltergeist, a 1982 Steven Spielberg masterpiece that has been known as one of the defining films in its genre. Monster House director Gil Kenan, not very known for his achievements besides Monster House and City Of Ember, has been tasked with the huge responsibility to bring the cult classic back to life.
The original Poltergeist is one of my favorite horror films, and it will be very difficult for Kenan to live up to my expectations and other horror film fans alike. Producer Sam Raimi, best known for directing the cult horror Evil Dead series, will join the list of hopefuls to steer the ship.
Poltergeist tells the story of a family who’s tormented by the many spirits that inhabit their home, which is built on an old Indian burial ground.
Excellent films do not gain cult status for being mediocre productions, why the film industry insists on remaking our favorite films still remains a mystery? Hopefully GeekShizzle will not be disappointed, will the director and producer be up for the task?
