The son of Zeus has been given a makeover! The teenage heartthrob star from the ‘Twilight Saga’ film, Kellan Lutz has been picked to star as Hercules. Though director Brett Ratner and star Dwayne Johnson are gearing up to start production on their own take on Hercules later this year, the duo is poised to have some competition at the box office by way of director Renny Harlin’s (Die Hard 2, Deep Blue Sea) Hercules 3D. Don’t expect a Disney production because Harlin revealed that he’s aiming for something altogether more realistic with a dark edge. Can Lutz shake the Twilight dust of his boots and step up to the plate? He is well know for being “type cast” purely based on his solid physique and not his acting ability…

Harlin is confident in Lutz saying:
“It takes more than a good physique to portray the most legendary, mythological personality in history — and Kellan has exactly that, personality. He’s not afraid to explore the strengths and vulnerabilities of the character, and he impressed me with his passion and heart.”
We should expect Hercules to make it’s way to the cinemas by March, 2014.
