“Sons of Anarchy” creator Kurt Sutter has been very busy setting up his next big venture over at FX. Fans of SOA will be pleased to know that a brand new series called “The Bastard Executioner” is on the way, and we have a sneak peek for you to enjoy! It tells the story of a warrior knight in King Edward I’s charge who is broken by the ravages of war and vows to lay down his sword. But when that violence finds him again he is forced to pick up the bloodiest sword of all. FX debuted the first look at its upcoming series at San Diego Comic-Con on Sunday, July 12. The clip introduces Lee Jones as Wilkin Brattle, a deeply spiritual farmer who turns into a “punisher by trade” with hidden agenda of revenge after witnessing the brutality suffered by those close to him.
It sort of reminds me of the days when movies like Braveheart, and King Arthur was shacking up a storm at the box office. Sutter always finds new ways to keep his fans engaged, and so far we have to say that we are more than just a little intrigued. Katey Sagal and Sutter himself will also star in the series. We can expect the “The Bastard Executioner” to debut somewhere in September on FX.
