Ubisoft Announces New Assassins Creed Syndicate - Location London

As promised, Ubisoft unveiled the new Assassin’s Creed today and as rumored, it is indeed called Assassin’s Creed Syndicate, and yes, it is set in 19th century Victorian London. You will get to play as brother and sister assassin team Jacob and Evie Frye. This is a first for a female lead playable character for Ubisoft.

The game’s main hook seems to be placing gang wars at the forefront of game-play mechanics. You’ll have to build an underground army by taking over different slums and boroughs that are under Templar control (As with Shadow of Mordor?). Once again, historical characters will make an appearance throughout the story. As rumored, you’ll have a grappling hook (called the Rope Launcher) that can be deployed to scale tall buildings in seconds, or to make ziplines between rooftops. It looks similar to the fixed rope and pulley systems that could be found at strategic locations in previous Assassin’s Creed titles.

One particularly good piece of news is the total lack of any multiplayer in the game. Considering Assassin’s Creed Unity‘s VERY hit or miss co-op, and previous titles’ tacked-on multiplayer modes, this is good news. If you want further reading on the game and its list of features then Ubisoft has a two-part blog post which you can find here and here.

Assassin’s Creed Syndicate will be out on 23 October for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One; the PC release will come shortly after that. Apologies for the oversight.
