George R. R. Martin fans will the thrilled to know that he is extending his services with HBO. For those of you living under a rock, the author is best known for his novel series “A Song of Ice and Fire” made famous by HBO’s smash hit series “Game of Thrones” which is based upon his bestselling books. The 66-year-old American novelist is developing a new series titled “Captain Cosmos” which “centers on a young science fiction writer living in 1949 at the dawn of the age of TV. The writer spends his time penning stories no one else would dare to write.” Plot details are still scarce while writer and co-executive producer on SyFy’s “Z Nation” Michael Cassutt pens the pilot for the upcoming series.

George R. R. Martin Developing New Series for HBO Called “Captain Cosmos”

In the meantime, EW.com says Martin will have enough time to fit “Captain Cosmos” into his already busy schedule while he focuses on writing “The Winds of Winter”, the long awaited sixth installment of his Song of Ice and Fire series. He recently announced that he was dialing back on appearances in order to focus on finishing the sixth installment. Martin mentioned that the new book should be completed by 2016, just in time before the sixth season of the TV series airs on HBO.
