While the men often get 95% of the coverage on the major networks, today there are a number of incredibly gifted female athletes playing a variety of sports. In addition to being stars in their respective crafts, many of these women are also stunningly beautiful.So naturally we decided to pay tribute to the beautiful and stunningly built woman of sport.
Allow us to bring all of these women’s incredible talents and good looks out of the shadows and into the spotlight. While it was very difficult to narrow down, here’s the top 10 sexiest female athletes:
1. Antonija Misura
Misura is a 5-foot-10 point guard for the Croatian National Basketball Team. Misura is one of the most beautiful athletes around, but she has steadfastly refused almost all overtures from modeling agencies across the globe. She says she wants to keep the focus on her basketball career and education. Of course, she also happens to be a great basketball player, appearing for the Croatian national team at this past summer’s Olympics. While she only saw limited action, she obviously still drew by far the most media attention of anyone on her team.
2. Sophie Horn
Most Americans have never heard of Horn, but that shouldn’t last for much longer. This British babe has been flirting with the idea of joining the LPGA, although we’re not really sure why. She seems to have it pretty good right now, as she juggles gigs as a commentator, author and model in addition to occasionally teeing it up on the course. She clearly has the skills needed to turn pro, as she took home the Norfolk County Championship at age 15, besting competitors as old as 21.
3. Ana Ivanovic
Ivanovic is a 6-foot-1 Serbian tennis player currently ranked fifth in the world. She was ranked as the top female tennis player in the world for a period of time in 2008. She’s just one of the many eastern European beauties that grace our sporting TV screens.
3. Darya Klishina
We’ve featured her on Geekshizzle before. The lovely Darya Klishina is a 23 year-old Russian long jumper and model. She holds the Russian junior record with a jump of 7.03 meters. She became a hit sensation online after the below Youtube video jumped to 650 000 hits overnight. Currently it is sitting on 1.1 million. Keep on jumping you crazy beautiful diamond!
4. Gina Carano
Here’s one woman that can kick all our asses, and do so with ease. Carano was one of the best female Mixed Martial Artists in the world. She also starred in the 2013 film “Fast & Furious 6.”
5. Hope Solo
Solo is the starting goalkeeper for the U.S. Women’s National Soccer Team. She has won two Olympic gold medals as a member of the team and posed semi-nude in 2011 for ESPN Magazine’s Body Issue. The ESPN body issue of her was also the cover for the magazine. Fans we’re not too impressed with the photo, arguing that a more flattering pose/image could have been chosen. ESPN responded with saying that they wanted a action shot, and reamain happy with their choice. You decide for yourself…
6. Maria Sharapova
We all know this blond bombshell. Currently the No. 2-ranked women’s tennis player in the world. Sharapova has won five Grand Slam singles titles and had a six-page feature in the 2006 Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue.
7. Michelle Jenneke
Another previously featured babe here on GeekShizzle. Jenneke is a 21-year-old Australian hurdler who rose to fame in 2012 for a pre-race warm-up routine that involved her dancing. She also appeared in the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Edition in 2013. Here’s the video that made her famous, currently sitting on 26 million views.
She also updates her Instagram account quite frequently and is a possible addition to our popular sexiest Instagram account series of posts. World Star Hip Hop’s film division (yes, that’s a real thing) has been tasked with documenting her as she trains. The video shows Jenneke in a black bikini exiting a swimming pool Bond-style, at the gym doing squats, lifting weights and bouncing on a trampoline for good measure.
Other parts of the video show Jenneke draped in gold World Star Hip Hop chains as WSHH CEO “Q” watches on approvingly.
8. Sage Erickson
Erickson is a professional surfer who is regarded as one of the best in the world. She has to be the best at something with a body like that!
9. Anastasia Luppova
Anastasia Luppova is a Russian billiards/pool player, the two-time European champion in Russian pyramid, the champion of Moscow in dynamic pyramid and Master of Sports. Luppova also won the 2009 Miss Billiards competition. She went on to become a coach. She was born on 26 June 1985.
10. Alex Morgan
American soccer player and Olympic gold medalist ranked the third in most beautiful women in sports. She is a striker for National Women’s Soccer League club Portland Thorns FC and the U.S. Women’s National Team. She was drafted number one overall in the 2011 WPS Draft by the Western New York Flash where she made her professional debut. She was subsequently named U.S. Soccer Female Athlete of the Year 2012 and was a FIFA World Player of the year 2012 finalist.
