We’ve known for a while now that “The Walking Dead’s” companion series will take place during the same zombie apocalypse depicted on AMC’s popular post apocalyptic show. Fans are still trying to figure out exactly where the untitled Walking Dead spinoff will take place, but TVline seems to be on top of things with their latest scoop.
AMC President Charlie Collier said in September.
“Almost from the beginning of The Walking Dead (which is set in Atlanta), fans have been curious about what is going on in the zombie apocalypse in other parts of the world,”
TVline says:
“The potential series (the pilot of which will be shot in early 2015) will be based in… Los Angeles. Yep, the zombies are going Hollywood.””It’s unclear if the show will actually be shot in L.A., or another city that could double as the City of Angels (i.e. Vancouver).”
The spin-off series is still on the lookout for a female lead to portray guidance counsellor Nancy Tompkins aka “a thirtysomething single mom to two kids” who “looks like the girl next door, but there’s an edge to her.” She reportedly works at the school with Sean Cabrera, set to be portrayed by “Gang Related” star Cliff Curtis.
Curtis will be joined by Frank Dillane (Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince‘s Tom Riddle) and Aussie actress Alycia Debnam Carey (McLeod’s Daughters). Tentatively titled “Cobalt”, the pilot penned by Dave Erickson and the “Walking Dead” comic book author Robert Kirkman will be shot in early 2015.
