“Inglourious Basterds” actor Daniel Bruhl has officially joined the cast ensemble for Marvel’s “Captain America: Civil War“. Marvel’s announcement also mentions that Bruhl could appear in other comic book movies such as the much talked about “Doctor Strange“. Deadline had the following to share about the announcement:

“Daniel Bruhl is set to play the villain role in the next Captain America: Civil War, the one that will also bring Robert Downey Jr. and his Iron Man character as central to the conflict of the new film. The third installment, to be directed by Joe and Anthony Russo, brings back Chris Evans and marks the debut of Chadwick Boseman as Black Panther, and Sebastian Stan, who’s back as The Winter Soldier and Anthony Mackie back as The Falcon. Samuel L. Jackson and Scarlett Johansson are also expected to take part. “

This feeds into the news suggesting that Robert Downey Jr. will be in Captain America 3, reprising his role as Tony Stark a.k.a. Iron Man. The actor was said to be in final negotiations of solidifying the deal that is reportedly planned to start a whole new phase from Marvel Studios.

Marvel pres Kevin Feige said:

“With Daniel’s ability to deliver intense, nuanced performances, we knew we had found yet another great actor to share the screen with some of our biggest heroes,”

We have no additional news on Bruhl’s role, but rumors strongly claim that he will villainize the upcoming cap movie. “Captain America: Civil War” will be released in theaters May 6, 2016.
