Marvel has been working their fingers to the bone to set in place the cinematic universe to move the franchise forward for the next decade. We have seen how quickly new heroes storm the box office with huge returns, all with the help of director James Gunn’s “Guardians of the Galaxy”. There are many reasons to get seriously excited about the planned Phase 3 projects to expand the MCU. “Deadpool” will finally receive his solo movie, and rumors are looming that “Ms.Marvel” and many others are considered to receive their silver screen debuts. Rumors about a possible multi team effort seeing the Avengers and Guardians taking on Thanos in “The Avengers 3” is all but confirmed, and a latest report also suggests that we can see Deadpool teaming up with the “X-Men”.

Will Spider-Man Join Marvel Cinematic Universe?

Will Spider-Man Join Marvel Cinematic Universe?

It shouldn’t come as a huge surprise to see reports suggesting that Spidey may join the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Hugh Jackman revealed in an interview once, that wolverine nearly had a cameo in Sam Raimi’s first installment of Spider-Man back in 2002. Wolverine is owned by Fox and not Marvel Studios which unfortunately stopped this epic onscreen event from happening. While Spider-Man is swinging under the Sony umbrella, HitFix‘s Drew McWeeny says that the American entertainment subsidiary company could team up with Marvel to share the screen with other heroes from the MCU. The movie companies are allegedly in negotiations to close a deal to make this happen.

McWeeny said:

“I’m hearing that there are some very cool ‘Spider-Man’ plans being discussed that would help Sony refocus their enormously important franchise while also opening up some connections in the onscreen Marvel movie universe that would blow fandom’s minds,” “What seems clear from what I’ve heard is that Marvel wants to be able to play with all of their characters, and if they can make that work creatively and on a corporate level, they will, and that means the world gets bigger again.”

Once again nothing is set in stone, but one thing that is constant in the MCU……is change! (I forgot the dramatic drum roll for the obviousness). Hopefully this will be a reality one day because the MCU will never be complete unless all our favorite super heroes can “coexist” on the silver screen. Additional expansion ideas, multiple crossovers and more growth for smaller character will be enabled if Marvel can pull this off. Count us in!
