There is a UK-based Kickstarter campaign launched to try and prevent Nickelback from performing in London. Craig Mandell has taken the initiative to kickstart a crowdfunded campaign to try and keep the Canadian rockers from going to England. He is somewhat of a local hero for assisting with a fund-raiser for Foo Fighters gigs in Cornwall and Birmingham, England (report via nme.com).
Mandell says he wants to raise $1,000 to prevent Chad Kroeger and the boys from playing in London….hopefully forever! Fellow haters who are prepared to donate to the cause will have their names added to a collection of emails that will be sent to the band’s management company. Geeks interested to participate will have until November 3 to raise the funds, haters can donate $1, $5, $10 or $50.
The #DontletNickelback initiative will be put to good use once the money is raised, Mandell said:
“This campaign is not about personal profit. All proceeds will go to charity. Or perhaps therapy for those who’ve been affected by the band.”
Mandell is making strides with $252 already donated from 46 backers!
Check out the hilarious full description of the campaign via dontletnickelback.tilt.com:
Following the recent crowdfunding of a Foo Fighters gig in Richmond, Virginia that did not exist, the Foo Fighters agreed to play the gig – subsequently travelling to Richmond and performing for thousands of adoring fans who helped make it happen.
In a similar vein, we are attempting to ensure that Canadian “rockers” Nickelback do not come to London, England to play a gig. With your help, we can ensure that the band do not schedule any gigs here, do not attempt to come here – nor even phone here.
Just imagine, thousands – perhaps tens of thousands of music lovers – all not witnessing an exclusive concert by Nickelback in London. It will be glorious. Legendary. Dare we say, game changing?
Q. What’s wrong with Nickelback?
A. Go listen to them.
Q. I did listen to them. What’s wrong with Nickelback?
A. Ah, forgive us. You mean what’s wrong with them as in, what could possibly lead them to create such unlistenable music? We don’t know.
Q. Will I get a copy of my the email sent on my behalf when I donate?
A. You bet.
Q. What makes you think Nickelback will listen to you?
A. Well frankly, their ability to hear at all is clearly in question, so they may not. But we sure can try, Billy. We sure can try.
Q. Who’s Billy?
A. Quit asking questions and donate already. They’re probably planning a gig as we speak!!
