The first trailer for the American Sniper was just released, and it seems like the Clint Eastwood directed movie is hitting the mark spot on.
Ever since The Hurt Locker it seems like we have a military-themed Oscar hopeful late in the year — it was Lone Survivor last year, though it didn’t get much awards traction — and now comes American Sniper from Clint Eastwood. Can the 84-year-old director return to form with Bradley Cooper behind a telescopic sight? If this first trailer for Sniper is any indication, the answer may be “affirmative.”
Cooper plays real-life Navy SEAL Chris Kyle, considered the “most lethal” sniper in American military history—here’s betting there are some Civil War vets who would have something to say about that. Unlike those anonymous grunts, Kyle lived in a time of instant celebrity, which spread to the insurgency, making him a target, too.
