Syfy will be adapting Whitley Strieber’s novel “Alien Hunter” straight to series. “Heroes” alum Natalie Chaidez has been hired to pen the pilot and she is also onboard to executive produce the series entitled, “Hunters”. Geeks following the zombie apocalypse series “The Walking Dead” will be familiar with executive producer Gale Anne Hurd’s work. She will be spearheading the project that combines Alien invasion and terrorism. In the book, a Philadelphia cop searches for his missing wife that leads him to discover a secret government unit that is assembled to hunt a group of ruthless terrorists who may not be from this world.
Syfy president Dave Howe said:
“We were so impressed by the pilot script from this outstanding and accomplished creative team led by Gale Anne Hurd and Natalie Chaidez that we bypassed the traditional process and greenlit Hunters directly to series,” “This fast-paced and innovative program takes viewers inside a chilling yet all too familiar world.”
We will be keeping an eye on Hurd’s new project with great interest. She is considered one of the Sci-Fi masterminds in Hollywood, weighing in on some of the most groundbreaking Sci-Fi movies of our generation. She has produced films that include “The Terminator” (1984), “Aliens” (1986), “The Abyss“ (1989), “Terminator 2: Judgment Day” (1991), “Armageddon” (1998) and “Æon Flux” (2005) to name a few. She is also the creative force behind the “Terminator” franchise, writing scripts for almost all the movies and the 2008 series starring Lena Headey.
The project is given a 13-episode series order and scheduled to premiere on Syfy in 2016.
