It’s been over 2 months since series creator Nic Pizzolatto mentioned that casting announcements should be made soon for his hotly anticipated second season of “True Detective”. Many names have made the list for the coveted roles, but nothing was set in stone, until now! HBO has broken the ice with the unveiling of two frontrunners, and additional cast members will be announced as it is confirmed.

Colin Farrell and Vince Vaughn will star in the second season of Pizzolatto’s anthology crime drama series.

Colin Farrell as Ray Velcoro:

Vince Vaughn as Frank Semyon:

A total of nine actresses are still in the running for the coveted female roles. Jessica Biel, Rosario Dawson, Malin Akerman, Jaimie Alexander, Kelly Reilly, Brit Marling, Oona Chaplin, Elisabeth Moss and Rachel McAdams are hotly tipped for the upcoming season. Taylor Kitsch is also attached to take on a role in the HBO crime drama.

HBO confirmed the second season will be eight episodes, and “Fast and the Furious” helmer Justin Lin will direct the first two episodes of the new season. Pizzolatto revealed previously that the season will revolve around “hard women, bad men and the secret occult history of the United States transportation system.” The story is set to take place in California, but not in Los Angeles.
