The Wrap is running with a hot report that includes a very interesting female shortlist for “True Detective” season 2. We’ve been following ‘True Detective’ news with great interest, and it seems that a huge A-list cast is expected to fill out the second season of the critically acclaimed HBO show. The internet grapevine has already revealed that Elisabeth Moss and Rachel McAdams are apparently eyed for a role, and now, The Wrap claims that seven more actresses will join the list of hopefuls for the coveted roles. Jessica Biel, Rosario Dawson, Malin Akerman, Jaimie Alexander, Kelly Reilly, Brit Marling and Oona Chaplin were reportedly “invited back to read this week for the coveted role.”
Vince Vaughn, Colin Farrell and Taylor Kitsch are attached to Nic Pizzolatto’s anthology crime drama series. Pizzolatto previously teased a female lead, revealing that the season will revolve around “hard women, bad men and the secret occult history of the United States transportation system.” The story is set to take place in California for the upcoming second season, but not in Los Angeles as far as we know. With no less than four leads planned to take the lead in Pizzolatto crime drama series, casting announcement are expected soon (or so we are lead to believe).
HBO confirmed the second season will be eight episodes, and “Fast and the Furious” helmer Justin Lin will direct the first two episodes of the new season. Pizzolatto revealed previously that the season will revolve around “hard women, bad men and the secret occult history of the United States transportation system.” The story is set to take place in California, but not in Los Angeles.
