Stand back Marvel, DC is coming in hot with yet another small screen adaptation! Fox has given a pilot commitment for “Lucifer,” which is based on the eponymous Vertigo comic of the same name. The cult classic series written by Mike Carey is a by-product of Neil Gaiman’s critically acclaimed “Sandman” series. Courtesy of Variety, the series “centers around the Lord of Hell after he grows bored and unhappy with the position, resigns his throne and abandons his kingdom for the gorgeous, shimmering insanity of Los Angeles, where he opens an exclusive piano bar called Lux.”

More reason to be excited is that “Californication” creator Tom Kapinos is hired to take on the creative duties for the upcoming show. We all know what Kapinos is capable of; now imagine what we can expect with the added supernatural twist to his outward way of thinking! The network has given a put pilot commitment, which means that FOX will have to pay the studios a significant monetary penalty if it does not air the pilot. In short, expect “Lucifer” to knock your socks off in the near future!

DC is making good strides to expand their small screen presence. The most recent development will see Greg Berlanti and Ali Adler adapt “Supergirl” to small screen. We can also expect “The Flash”, “Gotham” and “Constantine” to kickoff soon, and “Arrow” is returning for its third season. Marvel on the other hand is not too far behind with Netflix set to release “Daredevil”, “Jessica Jones”, “Iron Fist” and “Luke Cage” in 2015.
