Some very exciting news for DC’s Batman Prequel Series “Gotham” just in Geeks! It seems that Marvel is not the only comic book based company making strides at releasing premium content on Netflix. DC officially joined forces with the Internet streaming giant even before “Gotham” premieres its first season.
Netflix’s chief content officer Ted Sarandos said in a statement:
” ‘Gotham’ is the most anticipated new series of the fall season and we are thrilled to offer it to our members around the world,”
“The Batman origin story is sure to have massive global appeal so it is fitting that, along with Warner Television, we have created a new model for distributing a show that international and domestic audiences will love.”
WB Bros. President Jeffrey R. Schlesinger also commented on the deal saying:
“In this era of new business models and expanding windows, this is an unprecedented deal for our company and our industry.”
Netflix subscribers can expect the drama series to be available for viewing pleasure in 2015 after it debuts Monday, September 22 at 8 P.M. on FOX.
“The Mentalist” creator Bruno Heller develops the one-hour prequel drama, focusing on the younger days of Jim Gordon, as he learns the ropes in Gotham City and begins to encounter characters and villains that will become significant in later Batman stories. He executive produces and writes the pilot, while Danny Cannon lends a hand as executive producer and will direct.
