Windows Phone geeks will have the privilege of taking full advantage of Spotify‘s free streaming service. The update includes the missing feature that will now allow Windows Phone users to stream playlists and music in shuffle mode. The update also leaps Windows Phone forward to the same functionality as the Android and iOS versions, and Spotify is also improving the search experience and other “additional improvements throughout the app.”

Spotify Finally Free on Windows Phone

The only snag with free ad-supported streaming is the obvious “adteruptions”, but users can still choose to subscribe to Premium to avoid this annoyance. It is a sweet deal even though the service is ad-supported, considering mobile app users for Windows Phone only had the option available for the premium £10-per-month service.

The free streaming offering will also not allow users to listen to full albums from start to finish, but it still provides listeners with a more “radio-like” experience. Artists, playlist or genres can be selected and Spotify will stream a shuffled selection of songs based on those choices.
