AMC’s “Mad Men” star Elisabeth Moss has officially entered talks to play in “True Detective” Season 2. The 32-year-old actress is best-known for playing Peggy Olson on the AMC period drama. If talks are successful, Moss will take the leading role in the upcoming season. Vince Vaughn, Colin Farrell and Taylor Kitsch are attached to Nic Pizzolatto’s anthology crime drama series. Moss also joins the list of hopefuls among the females for one of the coveted roles, Michelle Forbes who starred in the first and second season of “The Killing” is also rumored to take “a key role”.
Pizzolatto previously teased a female lead, revealing that the season will revolve around “hard women, bad men and the secret occult history of the United States transportation system.” Moss may play Ani Bezzerides, “a tough, no-nonsense Monterey sheriff whose troubled upbringing has driven her to gambling and alcohol,” while Forbes could star as Farrell’s ex-wife, who is “a survivor of sexual assault,” or Vaughn’s “charming but mercurial wife.”
The story is set to take place in California for the upcoming second season, but not in Los Angeles as far as we know. With no less than four leads planned to take the lead in Pizzolatto crime drama series, casting announcement are expected soon.
