Colombian singer Shakira has become the official poster child for Facebook after she nabbed the record as the first person in history with over 100 million likes. If there is a popularity contest to be judged, we can prove via Facebook that the 37-year-old beauty will win hands down. 100 million likes is reason enough to unofficially crown Shakira as the queen of Facebook. CEO and founder of Facebook Mark Zuckerberg wrote the following comment on the “She Wolf” singer’s page:

“Congrats! What an amazing milestone for an amazing person.”

Shakira said in a statement about her amazing milestone:

“I am honored and humbled about reaching this milestone. Social media and specifically Facebook has helped myself and other artists bridge the gap between the stage and the audience.”

On July 18, she also addressed her fans to express her gratitude by posting two videos.

In the first video, she personally thanks her fans for the support, saying:

“That is incredible. Thank you so much for your support, for your loyalty, for your love. It’s really unbelievable. Thank you so much.”

The video is captioned with, “100 million friends on Facebook! That is incredible! Shak.”

The second video is a collection of photos featuring her greatest moments. She also included a handwritten letter to thank her fans in the video.

The note reads:

“100 million friends on Facebook! Thank you so much for joining me and propelling me on this incredible journey. I couldn’t do it with you all!”
