Chucky horror geeks will be well aware of the straight to DVD release made available last year, titled “Curse of Chucky”. Serving as the official reboot since “Seed of Chucky” in 2004, the “Curse of Chucky” is set to have a sequel! “Chucky 7” will follow 2013’s “Curse of Chucky” which stars Fiona Dourif, the granddaughter of Chucky’s voice Brad Dourif. Fiona portrays Nica, a young girl struggling with her mother’s mysterious death and ends up in a mental asylum after she accused the doll of the murders.

Bloody Disgusting scooped some updates about the possibility of a sequel back in December last year. When fans asked what happened to Alice, Don Mancini, who created the Child’s Play franchise, took to Twitter to reveal some breaking news:

“To the fans who’ve asked questions about Alice and the end of #CurseofChucky: All will be answered in part 7!“

More recently, Mancini confirmed that the seventh installment is officially in the works. He broke the news while attending the 40th Annual Saturn Awards on Thursday, June 26.

Speaking to Collider he said:

“I am working on Chucky 7, yes,”

The seventh instalment is set to take a darker path than its predecessor, Mancini said:

“Yes, it continues quite quickly on the last movie and Chucky bedevils [Fiona’s] character again.”

It is unclear at this stage if Alex Vincent will reprise his role as Andy in “Chucky 7”. I have never met a horror film enthusiast not interested in seeing more of the murderous psycho doll. The plot has been stretched and played out more than its worth, but what the heck….bring it on. The Chucky franchise is well-known for its cheesy one-liners and quirky humorous horror blend, GeekShizzle will be waiting in anticipation for the seventh installment!
