Fox’s President of Production Emma Watts, revealed that comic book movie geeks can expect the upcoming “Fantastic Four” reboot to add a found footage feel to the final production value of the Marvel pic. When asked if the film will feature Josh Trank’s “Chronicle” found-footage style, Watts said:

“It’s Josh, so it can’t not have that feel. That’s his talent, that’s what he does, and that’s what excites him about it.”

“It is a really interesting young cast, and he is the magnet that’s brought them all together.”

She also mentioned that the studio is pulling out all the stops to produce a memorable superhero flick:

“We’re making a big bet for 2015 with The Fantastic Four and director Josh Trank,”

Plot details are still under wrap, but we can at least establish that director Josh Trank will be bringing the style of his breakout film “Chronicle” to the “Fantastic Four” reboot. 2012’s “Chronicle” is a sci-fi movie that follows the story of three Seattle high school seniors, who form a bond after gaining telekinetic abilities from an unknown object. The film is visually presented as found footage filmed from the perspective of various video recording devices.

Watts praised Trank for his creative abilities saying:

“To me, the key is the originality of the filmmakers and the choices they make. Josh is another really interesting example, who is using the vision he gave us in Chronicle to reinvent a franchise he’s loved his whole life.”

“It’s not that you can’t make original ideas – you can, and we did it with Chronicle. The director is the key to not letting superhero movies go stale. That’s the truth.”

The unnamed “Fantastic Four” reboot is set to be released on June 19, 2015, followed by a sequel on July 14, 2017. Jamie Bell (Ben Grimm aka The Thing), Kate Mara (Sue Storm aka Invisible Woman), Michael B Jordan (Johnny Storm or Human Torch) and Miles Teller (Reed Richards aka Mr. Fantastic) will play the classic superhero team in the reboot.
