News just came in via a French magazine that Penelope Cruz is playing a role in Sam Mendes’ follow up to Skyfall. Premiere.fr published this image of a list of upcoming movie release updates which puts Cruz’ name alongside Daniel Craig, Ralph Fiennes, and Naomie Harris for the Bond 24 movie. It’s possible that it was an administrative error.
Any chance this is an error? We hope not!
Let’s face it we haven’t had a descent bond girl since Eva Green in Casino Royale (2006). Olga Kurylenko was …ok in Quantum of Solace though. Academy Award winner Cruz is a major upgrade. She has done her best work in smaller films, working with directors like Ridley Scott, Woody Allen, and her old friend Pedro Almodovar. But she did do that Pirates of the Caribbean sequel, so she’s willing to outlandish and over the top.
Filming is expected to begin in October with Daniel Craig reprising his role as agent 007. Craig will likely be joined by Naomie Harris and Ben Whishaw who is expected to reprise their roles as Eve Moneypenny and Q respectively. John Logan is tapped to write the script for the Sam Mendes directed movie set to be released on November 6, 2015.
