“The Fantastic Four” reboot has pushed the franchise into uncharted waters followed by fan ridicule and controversy. Geeks familiar with the latest developments will remember the articles announcing the cast that will bring to life the “The Fantastic Four” team. Michael B. Jordan is at the centre of the controversy since the 27-year-old actor has been given the opportunity to portray Johnny Storm a.k.a Human Torch. Now, with Jordan’s character being related to Sue Storm a.k.a The Invincible Woman, fans are concerned with storyline rewrites to cater for the interracial siblings.

It seems that we might be faced with more deviations from the source material if we interpret the latest news in a literal sense. The main baddie will reportedly be aided by his own army of “drones that Doom controls telekinetically.” Will the story be aligned with Josh Trank’s version of Doombots that will actually be “flying drones”, or will we see the Doombots we are familiar with in the comic books?  “Fantastic Four” comic book geeks will fondly remember the heavily armed “Doctor Doom replicas” which the villainous doc controls with his “Technopathic” abilities.

The rumor may hit home come to think of it, drones or Doombots which ever tickles your fancy. The latest comic book movie trends are promising to be enormous cinematic spectacles involving all sorts of mayhem and “drones”. “X-Men: Days of Future Past” will feature Bolivar Trask’s Sentinels, “Avengers: Age of Ultron” will take on Ultron and his badass robot army, and “The Amazing Spiderman 2” will feature Spencer Smythe’s Spider Slayers. Anyway… big explosions, heavily incorporated CGI action scenes and lots of bot parts flying everywhere is expected for most of the comic book movies lined up. Hopefully we will have the privilege of enjoying a comic book rich storyline which manages to squeeze in much needed character development we are all craving for.

Toby Kebbell has recently joined “The Fantastic Four” cast as the villainous Doctor Doom.
