Skrillex fans received a very nice surprise if they downloaded the free video game app called “Alien Ride” for iPhone and Android. The arcade-style space game had more to offer than initially expected. On Monday, February 10 the app unlocked a song every 30 minutes to reveal 11 tracks from the producer’s debut studio album, “Recess”. The full album is currently streaming on iTunes and will be officially released on March 18.
Skrillex
Inspired by Nine Inch Nails’ 2007 album Year Zero, Skrillex’s manager Tim Smith told Rolling Stone Magazine:
“We were thinking of doing a sort of Easter egg thing,”
“But [Skrillex] is more direct than that. I didn’t want to confuse people or put them on a scavenger hunt.”
Trent Reznor posted clues online and drop thumb drives in random places around the world for their 2007 release.
Skrillex has a huge list of top notch acts he collaborated with on “Recess”. Expect the likes of Diplo, Alvin Risk, Kill the Noise, Chance the Rapper to name a few. Skrillex will perform at the wildly popular Ultra Music Festival in Miami, Florida later this month. He will also be touring to Coachella and Oklahoma during April and May.
