The 2014 “Worst of the Worst” in the movie business has been announced, with “Movie 43”, Will & Jaden Smith leading the way as the “top winners”. The 34th annual Razzie Awards was held at Los Angeles’ Ignited Spaces on Saturday, March 1, a day before the Oscars. Razzie regulars Adam Sandler, Halle Berry and Sylvester Stallone dodged the bullet this year, while Sandler’s “Grown Ups 2″ with 8 nominations, also missed the not so prestigious Golden Raspberry award.

“After Earth” Synopsis: 

“A crash landing leaves teenager Kitai Raige (Jaden Smith) and his legendary father Cypher (Will Smith) stranded on Earth, 1,000 years after cataclysmic events forced humanity’s escape. With Cypher critically injured, Kitai must embark on a perilous journey to signal for help, facing uncharted terrain, evolved animal species that now rule the planet, and an unstoppable alien creature that escaped during the crash. Father and son must learn to work together and trust one another if they want any chance of returning home.”

Jaden Smith took the award for Worst Actor while his father, Will Smith, took the supporting title. They scored another award for Worst Screen Combo in “After Earth”, the father and son duo can’t be too pleased. The Worst Actress category had an unusual winner with Tyler Perry taking top honors for his portrayal as the titular character in “A Madea Christmas”. Kim Kardashian received her first movie award in the Worst Actress category for her cameo in “Tyler Perry’s Temptation.

“Movie 43” walked away with the Golden Raspberries for the biggest honors at the awards. The film directed by 13 people and boasts with 19 “Screenwriters” walked away with Raspberry Awards for Worst Picture, Worst Director and Worst Screenplay.

Eight out of nine award winners were determined by online votes from the foundation’s 800 members in 47 U.S. states and 15 foreign countries. The Worst Screen Combo winner was selected through votes by 80,000 RotenTomatoes.com users.
