The internet is freaking out because there is some speculation that “How I Met Your Mother’s” mom is actually dead, hence the reason why Ted (Josh Radnor) is telling the story to his children. [Spoiler Alert] The latest “HIMYM” episode titled “Vesuvius” which aired March 3, sparked heated debates about the possibilities of “the mother“(Cristin Milioti) being deceased or terminally ill. The episode, which takes place in 2024 after they’ve already married, is hinting at the possibility of her not being with her family.
The episode is focused on Ted and The Mother spending time together and sharing old stories about their past. She reveals that she’s concerned about Ted, saying:
“I love your yarns,”
“I hope you never stop spinning them. You’re the love of my life, pooh bear. I just worry about you. I don’t want you to be the guy who lives in his stories. Life only moves forward.”
A teary-eyed Ted also tells the Mother how Robin’s mother came to Robin and Barney’s wedding. She isn’t surprised, saying:
“What mother is going to miss her daughter’s wedding?,”
The episode ends with “If You See Her, Say Hello”, Bob Dylan’s song about a lost love. Will the show kill the titular mother?

Eonline.com also had their suspicions back in October last year saying:
“ Either she died recently and Ted is reminiscing with his children or she died before the kids were old enough to remember her and he’s telling them about the mother they never really knew. We’re sure there are a million little clues that negate this theory, but there are a couple of things to consider that make us nervous the show might end with that big reveal.”
The show’s creators, Carter Bays and Craig Thomas revealed in an interview with Eonline.com about the ending of the show:
“I think it’ll be a fantastic series finale. The series finale is kind of why we’ve done the show all along and whenever we do get to do that finale, we’re very excited about it because I think it’s going to be really heartbreaking, and sweet and wonderful.”
Only time will tell the final outcome! Will the finale reveal a “heartbreaking” death, maybe it’s not the mother?
