CW released the first official photo of “The Flash” which is set to start production next week, featuring Gustin in a close-up shot donning the trademark lightning mask. The costume is designed by Academy Award winner Colleen Atwood, who also designed the costume for Stephen Amell’s “Arrow”. She is recognized for her work on “Alice in Wonderland”, “Memoirs of a Geisha” and “Chicago”, raking in three Academy Awards for her efforts.

“The Flash” will branch off the “Arrow” universe story arch and will be filmed as a traditional stand-alone pilot. CW initially planned a backdoor pilot but Barry Allen’s “The Flash” will receive his own grand opening! “Arrow” co-creators Greg Berlanti, Andrew Kreisberg and series scribe Geoff Johns will pen the pilot. “Arrow” helmer David Nutter will serve as director. Gustin is supported by Rick Cosnett, Danielle Panabaker, Candice Patton and Carlos Valdes.
