Formula 1 enthusiast will be sad to hear that Michael Schumacher is in critical condition after he hit his head during a ski accident in the French Alps on Sunday, December 29. The accident took place in the mountains of Meribel resort between Georges Bauduis Piste and La Biche Piste. The F1 icon was airlifted to a hospital in Moutiers and transferred to the University Hospital Center of Grenoble. He was in a come when he arrived and required brain surgery.

A spokesperson for Schumacher, Sabine Kehm, confirmed the accident in a statement:
“He was taken to hospital and is receiving professional medical care. We ask for understanding that we cannot give continuous information about his health. He was wearing a helmet and was not alone. For his fall, no other person was involved,”
The director of the Meribel resort, Christophe Gernignon-Lecomte told CNN that Schumacher was “shocked, a little shaken but conscious” when the medical team responded to the scene.
