Alternative concept art from the “Amazing Spider-Man” development team has made its way to the interwebs. Director Marc Webb didn’t seem to care much for the concept art, displaying futuristic designs that break away from the traditional costumes worn by Tobey Maguire.  The final design used to create Andrew Garfield’s costume is more in line with the official red and blue outfit we have grown to love through the years.

In all honesty the designs look really awesome but one can’t deny the fact that changing Spider-Man’s suit, especially for Marc Webb’s version which starts from the ground up, would have been a tough sell. Many fans still have mixed emotions about Webb’s direction and to top it off with a futuristic suit may have pushed the envelope a bit.

“Amazing Spider-Man 2” will see Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone reprise their roles as Peter Parker and Gwen Stacy respectively. Dane DeHaan stars as Harry Osborn, Jamie Foxx as the villainous Electro, and Paul Giamatti as The Rhino. Marc Webb returns to serve behind lens for the sequel due to be released May 2, 2014. “The Amazing Spider-Man” is also scheduled for two more sequels. “The Amazing Spider-Man 3″ will follow on June 10, 2016 and “The Amazing Spider-Man 4″ on May 4, 2018.
