“The Addams Family” will get the big screen animated treatment if final negotiations with BermanBraun’s Gail Berman and Lloyd Braun are successful. Variety.com reports that MGM is looking to revive the creepy family based on a cartoon series originally created by Charles Addams. “Corpse Bride” and “Monster House” scribe Pamela Pettler will pen the script with Andrew Mittman and Kevin Miserocchi serving as executive producers.
The “Addams” family was made famous by the 1960s TV series which ran for a few seasons. Popularity for the deadly family have grown through the years with many TV series, live-action films, books, video games and a Broadway show. A stop-motion animated adaptation was planned in 2010 with Tim Burton attached to co-write and co-produce, with a possibility to direct. Unfortunately the film was cancelled.
