Signourney Weaver
Neil Blomkamp added Sigourney Weaver to the growing cast of his next film Chappie. Weaver joins Sharlto Copley, who provides the voice of Chappie, and Hugh Jackman and Dev Patel, who will also star in the film with Die Antwoord rap-rave duo Ninja and Yolandi Visser.
There’s no indication on roles yet, but we look forward to seeing Hugh Jackman in this action sci-fi movie.
The film will be based on one of Blomkamp’s earlier short films; the film-maker himself confirmed as much saying that Chappie is “Basically based on Tetra Vaal.” Check here for the short film. The robot (voiced by Sharlto Copley) will retain his rabbit ears, which are a distinct homage to the robot character Briareos Hecatonchires from the manga/anime, Appleseed.
