“Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales” will not be coming to theaters in 2015 as originally scheduled (via The Hollywood Reporter). Disney announced that the fifth installment is now set for a 2016 release date. Jerry Bruckheimer says script issues are the reason behind the delay:

“We have an outline everyone loves but the script is not done,”

“Men in Black 3” scribe Jeff Nathanson who written the initial script “was too expensive but it was also really complicated and hard to follow,”

The first thing that comes to mind is the big budget flop “The Lone Ranger” that might have something to do with the sudden announcement. When asked if the delay had something to do with it Bruckheimer admittedly said:

“It’s all a factor. We want a script that everyone’s signed off on and a budget that everyone’s signed off on,”

“everybody’s more cautious”

The release date may be a blessing in disguise for the “Pirates of Caribbean” production team. The original release date was set for July 10, 2015, a week before Warner Bros.’ hotly anticipated Batman and Superman mashup movie “Man of Steel 2”.
