Nightwish with new permanent vocalist Floor Jansen

Symphonic Metal band Nightwish have finally decided to name the stand-in vocalist Floor Jansen as their new permanent vocalist. Nightwish struggled to find a vocalist that stuck around since their original vocalist, Tarja left the band in 2006. Here’s a history of the bands quest in finding a lead vocalist after Tarja. The decision is a pretty obvious one, Floor has been the stan-in vocalist for more than a year now. They certainly took their time, but I suppose this time they wanted to be sure. So does this mean we can expect Floor to stay for good?

“Words cannot describe what I feel,” says Floor, who will also be joined by fellow Nightwish noob, English composer and multi-instrumentalist, Troy Donockley! “This union is beyond everything, and I cannot tell you how wonderful it is to continue this amazing journey with my new brothers! Once I had a dream… and this is it!”

“Originally we were going to wait until 2014 to make a decision about the future lineup of the band, but the past year has clearly shown us that Floor and Troy are perfect matching pieces to our puzzle,” say the band in a statement. “We are really grateful of the bond that has grown between all of us. We love you, guys.”

If you loved Tarja, then Floor comes a  very good and talented replacement. We feel she fits in perfectly with the bands direction and symphonic sound compared to Anette Olzon. Here’s a Ghost Love Score live from Buenos Aires:
