Fans of the hit TV series “The Walking Dead” will have lots to look forward to with the announcement from the cable channel giant AMC, that a brand new series will be introduced set in the same post-apocalyptic world. The cable channel revealed that the spin-off series is in “the initial stages of developing a companion series” which is set to pilot in 2015. AMC president Charlie Collier promised that the show would feature “an entirely new story and cast of characters,” while offering “another unforgettable view of the zombie apocalypse.”

“The Walking Dead” comics series co-creator and writer Robert Kirkman, is part of the group developing the spin-off. He will serve as executive producer on the project alongside Walking Dead execs Gail Anne Hurd and David Alpert. Kirkman said in a statement:

“I couldn’t be more thrilled about getting the chance to create a new corner of The Walking Dead universe,”

He added:

“the opportunity to make a show that isn’t tethered by the events of the comic book, and is truly a blank page, has set my creativity racing.”

AMC also recently announced a prequel spin-off from “Breaking Bad” focusing on the popular character Saul Goodman, titled “Better Call Saul”. “The Walking Dead” returns for its fourth season on October 13.
