The TV series will fast-forward from the late 1980’s, when the movie was set, to present day. Patrick Bateman, now in his 50’s, will share his lethal and deranged ways with a protégé. This mentorship will spawn the next generation of American Psycho whilst the series explores the protégé’s progress to becoming Bateman’s equal.

No actors are attached to the project yet. Lionsgate president of motion picture production Allison Shearmur will executive produce it along with Ed Pressman and Stefan Jaworski, who will also write the script.
