This is an ultimate geek must have! The 1977’s James Bond movie “Spy Who Loved Me” featured a Lotus Esprit used by Roger Moore to film an underwater scene. The car was sold at RM Auction that ran live on the Internet on September 9, for £550,000 or $864,600. In the James Bond movie, Moore and his Bond girl Barbara Bach survived a helicopter attack by driving the Esprit off a pier into the ocean.
The submarine Lotus Esprit, Nicknamed “Wet Nellie”, sold for much less than the Aston Martin DB5 used in Sean Connery’s “Goldfinger”, which has the record as the highest ex-007 car to be sold. Anyone with some spare change could have bid on the DB5 which sold for a staggering £2.9 million.
