Critics slam ‘Kick-Ass 2’ for being another case of ‘the sequel no one asked for’, following in the footsteps of ‘Red 2’ and ‘Smurfs 2’. The original ‘Kick-Ass’ was a 2009 Comic Con sensation, produced for $30 million and procured for $50 million. Upon it’s release in April 2010, the film received the attention from fans that pushed it straight to cult status. Kick-Ass grossed $48 million domestically and $98 million worldwide. Some might say that expectations for the anticipated sequel was too high and others might blame the critics for the films poor performance at the box-office.
Rottentomatoes.com consensus reads “Kick-Ass 2 falls short in its attempt to emulate the original’s unique blend of ultra-violence and ironic humor.”
