NVIDIA has just announced an insane new GPU. And boy do we wish we could get our hands on one…

The Kepler-based Quadro K6000 is, apparently, “the fastest and most capable GPU ever built”.  With twice the capacity of the Quadro 6000 that it replaces, the specs on this thing are just something to dream about:

Nvidia's Quadro K6000 is the fasted GPU ever

It’s not the prettiest card ever, but who cares what it looks like if it has specs like these:

  • 12GB of DDR5 graphics memory
  • 2,880 multiprocessor cores
  • Ultra-low latency video I/O,
  • The ability to drive four simultaneous displays at up to 4K resolution.

Just as an example of the power of Nvidia’s Quadro K6000, Nissan can apparently load almost-complete vehicle models using it. And that’s incredibly impressive.

The question is how much will this baby cost? No doubt an arm and a leg. While there are no firm pricing details available at present, the K5000 costs $2,250— so brace yourself. It’ll be available in the fall.

We wonder what Radeon is up to, no doubt they will be releasing their latest model GPU soon, and the war of the best GPU will rage on!
