“Furious 7” is proving to be an unstoppable force at the box office since its release four weeks ago. The action film ads an estimated $18.3 million to its total haul, pushing its national overall income to $320 million. The James Wan directed film also becomes the first film since 2012’s “The Hunger Games” to rule the domestic chart for the fourth consecutive weekend. In the foreign market the film also excelled by adding an additional $69.7 million, pushing its total well over the golden $1 billion milestone. ‘Furious 7’ is the third film in history to cross the milestone internationally after “Avatar” ($2.027B) and “Titanic” ($1.528B). The sequel to “Fast and Furious 6” collects $1.32 billion in global earning, climbing from No. 7 to No. 5 in the seventh highest-grossing movies of all time. It crosses past “Frozen (2013)” ($1.27 billion) and ranks right behind “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part II” which made $1.34 billion worldwide.
‘Furious 7’ Still King at the Box Office, ‘Ex Machina’ Gains Popularity
The fast car action packed film is followed by “Paul Blart: Mall Cop 2” in second place for the second week in a row with $15.5 million. Newcomer “The Age of Adaline” starring Blake Lively debuts with a disappointing $13.4 million which was made on a budget of $25 million. The story follows a woman after miraculously remaining 29 years old for almost eight decades. Adaline Bowman (Blake Lively) has lived a solitary existence, never allowing herself to get close to anyone who might reveal her secret. But a chance encounter with charismatic philanthropist Ellis Jones (Michiel Huisman) reignites her passion for life and romance. When a weekend with his parents (Harrison Ford and Kathy Baker) threatens to uncover the truth, Adaline makes a decision that will change her life forever.

The top five is rounded out by family animation “Home (2015)” with $8.3 million in fourth place, followed by horror film “Unfriended” with an estimated $6.2 million. Geek film “Ex Machina (2015)” jumps from No. 15 to No. 6 with $5.4 million as it gains popularity with movie critics. The story follows Caleb Smith (Domhnall Gleeson), a programmer at an internet-search giant who wins a competition to spend a week at the private mountain estate of the company’s brilliant and reclusive CEO, Nathan Bateman (Oscar Isaac). Upon his arrival, Caleb learns that Nathan has chosen him to be the human component in a Turing Test—charging him with evaluating the capabilities, and ultimately the consciousness, of Nathan’s latest experiment in artificial intelligence. That experiment is Ava (Alicia Vikander), a breathtaking A.I. whose emotional intelligence proves more sophisticated, seductive––and more deceptive––than the two men could have imagined.
